Beautiful versatile Vizsla's, of excellent temperament, from top class bloodlines, from around the world.
We have owned this breed since 1991, when Duncarreg Seashell at Ponsonby joined us. She had a great show career in the UK, achieving Best of Breed Birmingham National Dog Show, Best in Show Open show winner, Junior warrent, 1 Cc and 2 Rcc, plus many other awards, but it was as a wonderful family companion that she excelled. Travelled with us to NZ as a very senior girl, 13yrs, and lived a great life here.
We are now campaigning her g g g grandson, Pinball Wizard, who has excelled in the show ring here. His sister, Spice Girl, gave us a wonderful litter to imported semen, from Hubertus Imprint. Pick dog with Heiderst Kennels,P Let The Games Begin, Eddie who went BIS at SA Vizsla speciality, and BOB last 3 years at Adelaide Royal.

The All Round Companion Hunter - Breeding for Soundness, Temperament, Working and Show.

My dogs happily go from sleeping on the bed .. to swimming the widest river .. to searching out feather or fur game .. to strutting their stuff in the show ring .. and back home to be lap dogs and loved pets! They have also successfully competed in agility, obedience and field trials.

My involvement with Vizslas began in 1990. A growing dedication to the breed has seen me set out to learn as much as I can. This includes joining international lists and discussing the breed with people around the world, traveling to different countries to see other dogs, importing semen and starting a national breed newsletter.

My dedication continues with an education campaign to help new people understand the breed and give an idea about breeders responsibilities. This is supported by articles I have written and had published, web pages, a VizslaNZ yahoo list and a booklet I have written on the subject (booklet available by email – just email me and ask or go to http://trader.co.nz/dogtrain/articles.htm to read this and some of my other articles).

It is exciting to see ‘my’ dogs earning their keep with the hunters, enjoying themselves in competition activities, prancing around the show ring and, most importantly, becoming loved and trusted family members for so many people.

Hoping for a litter late 2018 using my wonderful new imported semen. Ask for more info on this exciting USA addition to NZ.

Silverton Kennels was established in 2008 when we purchased our Vizsla bitch - Tilly - from the UK whose sire is at stud at the Sugar Kennels in Hungary.

In 2009 we also introduced a beautiful 'stunner' from Erdos Kennels in Australia that has excellent bloodlines. Reign's Great Great Grandfather Hungargunn Bear Itn Mind won the Gundog group at Crufts in 2009 and in 2010 took out Crufts Best In Show. She has dominated the breed from an early age. In 2013 we were privileged to have Aust Champion Erdos Jesse James from Australia at our kennels for a year and his progeny are very successful.

Our latest import NZ CH Hanafor Chavanel Denara (Fabian) from Tasmania is the embodiment of the male vizsla with overwhelming success in the show ring. His genetics combined with Reign produced a magnificent girl Silverton I See Fire (Charli) who had 1 Puppy in show and 1 Puppy in Group not to mention numerous Puppy of Breeds and as she is now beating her Mum for best bitch confirms the breeding programme is working well. A delightful, confident girl who is a show stopper.

As a veterinarian Michael brings an in depth knowledge and understanding vital to breeding sound, healthy Vizsla's. We are committed to ensuring the Vizsla's we breed come from well researched lines and are confident, strong Gundogs.

"We concentrate on striving for excellence in both temperament and conformation through top genetics and a sound breeding programme."

Our first introduction to Vizsla's was when we purchased Taz (Essential Gold of Hi-VIz) in 2003. We fell in love with the short-hair, velvet golden coat, the eagerness to please, and the gentle yet energetic nature of our dog.

Our whole family fell in love with Vizsla's and In 2010 our daughter purchased her own dog, Neika (Ponsonby Golden Ruby) . In 2012 our son purchased his own dog Zadok (Huntsouth-Miro)

We bred Taz and Neika and kept a pup Petra (Shemariah Kereso-Petra)in 2013 . She has been another delightful companion. She was chosen with the view of showing her, however with the ever limited time available hunting has taken priority. She has become my main deer dog and has proven a real asset for this wannabe hunter. Petra has become my main hunting companion.

Addenhund (“noble hound”) vizslas are elegant, intelligent, cooperative and fun. My vizslas are valued family members, interwoven in my life, living in my home, friends with my friends, and regularly out hunting, swimming and adventuring with me in New Zealand’s varied landscape.

I breed selectively, focusing on preserving the breed’s special characteristics of versatile hunting prowess and excellent temperament, underpinned by good health and structure. Every breeding is a carefully considered one, sometimes with top genetics from overseas, to produce quality pups with potential to be high performers in hunting and other activities, and who will bring their people many years of enjoyment.

My pups get the best possible start in life, born in my home, raised by happy healthy mothers, and then introduced to quality raw food and increasing levels of stimulation and activity on our lifestyle block. I follow a programme of neurological stimulation; exposure to various sounds, sights, smells, textures and tastes; socialisation; and introductions to deer hide, hooves, game feathers on a string and ducks. I devote my time to rearing healthy pups, with stable temperaments who are actively curious, responsive and resilient. Natural hunting ability and temperament is considered when matching pups to homes.

All enquiries about the breed are welcome, and from time to time there will be puppies available to approved homes. Please view the Addenhund website for more information.
